Private Math and Science Tutoring
I help students build deep understanding, strong foundations, and lasting confidence in Mathematics and Science by making complex ideas simple, meaningful, and easy to understand.
About Outstanders
Every Child Is Capable of Understanding
At Outstanders, I believe most students are capable of understanding far more than they realise.
When students struggle, it is often not because they lack ability. More commonly, they have been taught what to do without understanding why it works. As new topics build on earlier ones, small gaps in understanding grow into larger obstacles. Over time, students lose confidence, avoid challenging problems, and begin believing they simply "aren't good at maths" or "aren't a science person."
Those beliefs are rarely a measure of intelligence. They are usually a sign that the foundations were never fully understood.
Understanding Before Memorisation
Many students learn to recognise patterns and repeat procedures, yet become stuck when a familiar question is presented in a new way.
Memorisation can help students answer yesterday's questions.
Understanding prepares them for tomorrow's.
That is why I focus every lesson on conceptual understanding before speed, shortcuts, or exam techniques. I help students understand why ideas work, how concepts connect, and how Mathematics and Science form logical systems rather than isolated facts to remember.
Building Strong Foundations
Strong foundations make advanced learning possible.
Instead of rushing through topics, I strengthen the underlying concepts that later learning depends on. As those foundations become clearer, students often find that topics which once seemed confusing become logical and manageable.
More than improving subject knowledge, this builds confidence, curiosity, and the ability to approach unfamiliar problems with clear thinking.
Learning to Think Independently
Real learning happens when students can reason for themselves.
Rather than simply demonstrating solutions, I encourage students to ask questions, explore ideas, make connections, and discover logical pathways with guidance. The goal is not to memorise more methods but to develop the habits of thinking needed to solve new problems independently.
These are the same skills that support success in school, scholarship examinations, selective entry, VCE, and future university study.
More Than Better Marks
Good results matter, and deeper understanding usually leads to stronger academic performance.
But my greater goal is to help students become independent learners who think clearly, solve problems confidently, and continue learning long after the lesson has finished.
Because education should not only prepare students for the next examination. It should prepare them for everything that comes after.
Specialist Learning Tracks
Core Foundations (Grades 5–10)
Foundational Math & Science
I train students to solve complex problems they have never seen before. Instead of memorising formulas, they learn to think through logical reasoning and active discovery under my guidance. This builds the deep conceptual intuition your child needs to master advanced VCE studies.
Senior Years (Years 11–12 VCE)
VCE Math & Science
Advanced conceptual training tailored specifically for VCE Physics and Mathematics. I teach senior students how to dissect complex exam questions and apply core logic under pressure, ensuring they are fully equipped to excel in both SACs and final exams.
Selective School & Scholarship Prep
Selective School & Scholarship Prep
High-performance coaching for private school scholarships, selective entry placement, and global graduate assessments. Rather than training students to memorise question types, I build the deep conceptual logic and analytical speed required to solve unfamiliar, high-level problems under pressure—equipping candidates to navigate ACER, Edutest, SAT, GMAT, and GRE frameworks with absolute confidence.
